Digital Art And What It Says To YOU!

My whole blog is based upon what you see when you look at a photo, or what does that photo say to you...does it have a story  behind it?

So for today, I decided to do another interactive blog. I will post a few of my digital art pieces ~ which all started out as regular photographs ~ and let's see what these pieces say to you.

...What story are they telling you?
...What do you see when you see each piece?

At the end, I'll post what the photos actually are, in case any of you are wondering. Actually, most of them will probably look enough like the original photo for you to be able to tell what they are. But then again, maybe not - depends on what kind of "eye" you have! :)

Now, I'm not asking you to guess what each one is - actually, what I'd like for you to do is look at each one with your mind's eye and tell me what you see ~ kinda like an Artistic Roschack Test, lol.

So, are you ready? Let's go!

Here's the first one:

So, what did your mind's eye see?

It always amazes me that with a  little manipulation to a photograph, sometimes you can turn it into a piece of art!

Come on ~ don't be shy! What do you think????

Don't forget to check the list below to see what each picture originally was.

The House Finch

The House Finch

One day, while sitting on the front porch, I noticed a little bird perched atop my weeping cherry tree. As I kept watch from time to time, I noticed that she was always perched there, day after day.

I didn't realize at first that she was guarding her nest, but one day I noticed her fly to one of my silk plants hanging on my porch. As I walked out of the house onto the front porch, she flew away, circled and landed back on her perch atop the little cherry tree.

I decided to investigate and this is what I found...2 little eggs in a nest!

Two Little Eggs...

I continued to check every day. Soon there were three eggs and then there were four! I kept watch over the nest and the little bird, being careful not to disturb the nest as little as possible. I'd pulled a little step ladder up to the hanging planter and left it there for several days so I could just step up and peek inside of the nest. Once I surprised the momma bird who flew out of the nest scaring me more than I scared her!

Soon the eggs hatched and there were four little baby birds, chirping for food and attention. Even without feathers, they were so cute!

Feed Me!

From time to time the chirping would stop and I knew they were satisfied for now, at least until the next feeding...

Satisfied

One day I went out to check and the baby birds were gone and so was the momma bird. I don't know what happened to them. I don't think they were big enough to leave the nest...I guess I'll never know.

I miss seeing momma bird out on my weeping cherry tree. The little nest sat empty for a very long time. I guess she found another home for the next little family she had.

Dark Waterfall - My Happy Place

Dark Waterfall

If I asked you to picture a happy place in your mind - somewhere you could go to be happy...to feel safe. What would you picture?

For some reason, I've always pictured a small cave just behind a huge waterfall, where I could sit and just listen to the roar of the water and no one could find me or know I was there.

One day, my daughter and I decided to hike down to Cedar Falls on Petit Jean Mountain (Petit Jean State Park, AR). It was a really nice day and I had brought my camera with me so I could shoot the falls.

It was a bright day for photography so I was a little worried about the lighting. But I was going to see what I could get. We even brought sandwiches for a small picnic lunch once we arrived at the bottom of the falls. I LOVE waterfalls and just couldn't wait! The hike down was magical! There was a beautiful trail through the trees...green everywhere you looked, a little mist here and there, sounds of rushing water, an occasional wildflower to stop and shoot...beautiful nature sounds...beautiful nature views!

The trail.

Once we arrived, I began snapping away with my big camera (Canon Rebel). I was still learning, and still am, how to adjust the settings. I don't know what happened but all of my pictures came out with regular lighting except for that one. This one photo had that dark, mysterious look about it.

I LOVED IT! This was exactly what I'd pictured in my mind but from a different point of view. It didn't matter - I knew what was behind the falls! There was my happy place!

Now, when I want to go to that place in my mind, it's just that much easier since I have an actual picture of it! :)
